KIN 857 Promoting Positive Youth Development through Sport
D. Gould
This was my first introduction into the Master of Arts in Education Program. I wasn't sure what to expect. This class was a great fit for me as a Physical Education teacher and coach. I am a firm believer in the importance and benefits youth can gain from participating in organized sports. This class is where I began thinking about my coaching identity and it helped me to figure out what I wanted to be as a coach. For this course I completed several assignments that were beneficial, but one I still use as a model today was the term paper where I created a model for a after school sports program I could use at my school.

ED 800 Concepts of Educational Inquiry
S. Weiland
Education 800 is a course dedicated to the concepts of inquiry in education. It addresses problems of theory and practice in teaching and learning, administration, and leadership. Education classes were always a little more challenging for me. I didnt have much experience teaching any type of literacy. This class opened the door to my literacy learning experience. I was able to easily relate the concepts of inquiry to my subject area of Physical Education. I am always reminded of something I read during this course. In Howard Gardner's, The Disciplined Mind, he wrote, motivation is probably the most crucial factor beyond cognition. As a teacher and coach, I'm a firm believer in the importance positive motivation.
